Guru Granth Sahib Parkash Utsav commemorates the very first Parkash, which means, the opening ceremony of the Guru Granth Sahib at the Golden Temple (Amritsar) in 1604.
Parkash Utsav Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, known as Guru Granth Sahib Parkash Utsav is observed in the state of Punjab. Every year, it falls on the 15th day (new moon) of Bhadon, and on the sixth month of the traditional Punjabi calendar. The festival takes place in August or September according to the western calendar.
