The Shravan Mas is the fifth month according to Hindu calendar, usually in July or August and is considered very fortunate. The whole month is considered very fortunate as each day of the week is devoted to different Hindu Gods and Goddesses. Every Monday is considered more auspicious than other days as it is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This day is known as Shravani Somvar and from sunrise to sunset fasting is performed, Shivling is bathed with milk or holy water of River Ganges and Shivling is worshipped and is offered it flowers and Bel leaves. Naag Panchami also falls on the fifth day of this month.
