Ramadan is a Muslim festival celebrated all over the world which falls on the ninth month of Islamic calendar. It is the period when the holy Quran was disclosed to Prophet Muhammad.
Muslims fast for the whole month which is regarded as one of the five pillars, beliefs or duties of Islam. During the whole month when the sun shines they do not drink or eat anything. Before the sun raises, Muslims get up for suhoor and consume meal. Fast is broken only after setting of sun and they eat Iftar meal. The basic purpose of fasting is to remind them of the poor people’s sufferings and to practice self control and cleansing of mind and body. During the whole month, entire Quran is read by Muslims, they visit mosques and remember Allah means God.
