Onam is a harvest festival celebrated as per the Malayalam calendar’s first month known as Chingam which is in August or September. It is celebrated in Kerala in India. It marks the renowned King Mahabali’s return to Kerala whom people admired a lot. It is a ten days festival celebrated with joy and enthusiasm. People wear new clothes, exchange gifts with each other, decorate their homes to welcome the king, perform the dance of Thiruvathirakali, play games, organize snake boat races, and sports, and prepare a variety of dishes.
