Narasimha Jayanti is celebrated in the month of April or May in India. It is a Hindu festival. On this day, Lord Vishnu’s fourth incarnation known as Narasimha or Nrsimha appeared on the earth to destroy a demon named Hiranyakashipu. His appearance was of half man and half lion. On the occasion fast is observed by some devotees of Vishnu, special prayers are performed and gram sprouts and jaggery are offered to the idol.
