During the time of Diwali after Durga Puja, this festival is celebrated in West Bengal, Orissa, and Assam with great pomp and shown by lighting lamps and firing crackers like Diwali. Goddess Kali symbolizes Shakti or strength and is associated with death. People clean, decorate their houses and in front of the house draw rangoli. In the late night, Goddess Kali is worshipped. It is believed that she will destroy all evils in human beings and the outside world.
