Guru Purnima or Vyasa Purnima is celebrated by Hindus in India to honor their spiritual Guru. It is celebrated in the Ashadh month that is in June or July on the full moon day. In the memory of great saint Veda Vyasa this day is observed. He wrote the Srimad Bhagavata, the Mahabharata and 18 Puranas and compiled the four Vedas. On this day the devotees worship sage Veda Vyasa and their respective Guru who teaches them the right path of divinity.
